Patriot Motto:
“I love the Lord my God with all my heart and my neighbor as myself.”
Christopher Columbus
A Little boy named Christopher had a dream. This dream was different from the kind of dream that you have when you’re sleeping. God put something very important in his heart to do. Christopher Columbus drew a picture of his dream, and it looked like a map. It included a boat and a great big Ocean. God put a desire in Christopher’s heart, and God caused that plan to succeed!
This story is important to our nation because Christopher Columbus discovered America!
You may have learned about another man with a dream to have a boat. His name was Noah. Noah had a dream to build a big boat. God put that dream in his heart also and helped him to build it! Some people laughed at Noah, and they didn’t think that he had a good plan. But Noah obeyed God. Noah built the boat! God helped Noah to make the boat very strong. Christopher was laughed at also because they didn’t believe that Christopher could reach the East by sailing west. No one had ever done it. But Christopher did do it. When he sailed west, he found America!
Christopher did not build his own boats. He asked the King and Queen of Spain to provide the three big boats. They were strong boats. They had very large sails.
When Christopher prepared for this journey in the ocean, what do you think that he put on his boat?
Answer:
1. Food and water
2. Friends
3. Map
4.Journal
5. Bible
God was with Christopher. God was in the wind. “The wind always seemed to blow from the east.” God was blowing him into his destiny (the wind blew the ships toward America)!
Christopher was a great sea captain, and he recorded things in his journal. In his writings, he said that God was guiding him. He said, “It was the Lord who put into my mind (I could feel his hand upon me) the fact that it would be possible to sail from here to the Indies. All who heard of my project rejected it with laughter, ridiculing me. There is no question that the inspiration was from the Holy Spirit because He comforted me with rays of marvelous inspiration from the Holy Scriptures.”
(Please simplify Christopher Columbus’ words for the Little Patriots)
Patriots, there is a Bible verse where God says, “For the Lord your God is taking you into a good land, a land of brooks and water, of fountains and springs, flowing forth in valleys and hills . . . and a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing. You will bless the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.”
Let’s ask God to give you His dream for you. He will put dreams and desires in your heart, and He will help you bring them to pass.
Your teacher will give you a paper to draw a picture of the dream that you have in your heart. You may color your picture and make it beautiful. Before you begin, we want to pray for you. The Holy Spirit wants to inspire you with creative thoughts.
Make this fun. This is what Christopher Columbus did!
Directions for Coloring Pages
Little Patriots do their best work. Emphasize the importance of coloring neatly. When they have completed the state, the bird and flower place a gold star on the Capital City. This is the reward for a job well done.

Prayer Target
Father,
We pray for the Little Patriots in California and Nevada. We believe they are called by You for such a time as this. We know You will speak to them because they are listening! We ask for Your Holy Spirit to pour your love into their hearts. For You (like a lamp that burns bright) and for our country, and to know the Truth (Jesus) who makes the U.S. free!
Amen.
